How to stylishly adorn your house with Christmas lights

Christmas home lights and decorationsTo stylishly adorn your house with Christmas lights does not require you to spend a fortune. In fact this is an area where the principle ‘less is more’ can be truly applied. There are currently so many different colors of Christmas lights that one can add elegance and style to the lighting decorations by staying simple. Here are some helpful hints to guide you to showcasing a beautifully adorned home.

Some suggestions

  1. First and foremost you must make sure that your lights are in good condition. You should not use a strand of lights that is old or damaged. Use short strings so that they may easily be replaced in case of any defect.
  2. A wonderfully effective way of using a short string is to fill a heavy glass vase with it and light it up at night. The effect is even more dramatic if the vase is colored or tinted.
  3. Similar effect can be created by stuffing the porch light with a strand and lighting it up for a really beautiful effect.
  4. Put lots and lots of lights in the bathroom but remember to use a color that matches the décor of the bathroom. At night these lights serve the purpose of doubling up as night lights.
  5. Use single strands of light to decorate the edges of shelves of any sort: books, entertainment, pots and pans. These help to give a touch of the unrealistic to any area.

Do’s

  • Give free rein to your imagination but do not go over the top. Use icicle lights on trees in your front yard to give them the ethereal look.

Don’ts

  • Don’t use too many harsh and bright primary colors at one place. Clashing colors jar your senses and you end up feeling irritable.
