Christmas Weddings: Decorating beyond Red and Green
Christmas weddings do not have to be standard red and green affairs. Add some more pizzazz to your celebration and mix in some of the more decoration ideas.
Christmas is a very popular time of year to get married and many brides and grooms to be run into the decorating issue of red and green. Red and green are traditional Christmas colors which, for the most part, are great. But these two colors can also get stale and boring because they are used for everything over and over again during the holiday season. If you want your Christmas wedding to snap with some pizzazz, it’s time to pull out some interesting ideas and mix it up a bit. Here are few ideas we have seen over the years that took a Christmas from blasé to hot dang.
Let them wear kilts
Unique ideas makes a Christmas wedding more memorable.
The kilt of the Scottish clan Cummings is a nice red and green combination filtered through with white and a touch of blue. If you or your beloved have a touch of the Celt in you, why not go with something that reflects this heritage at your Christmas wedding? It is traditional to pull out the plaids of your ancestors at this time of year and having your bridesmaids in the long kilt skirt with sash and the groomsmen in the traditional kilt and trappings would make it a wedding to remember.
Gold and silver are not just for bells
Many people forget that gold and silver are two colors that are as popular as the traditional Christmas red and green. Instead of decorating the reception hall with just red and green, add touches of gold and silver to it. Think of how lovely the tables would look draped in gold and silver chiffon with red and green hurricane glass candle centerpieces. During the first dance, dim the lights so only the candles glow. You will see how well the tables sparkle.
Don’t forget the mistletoe
If you should happen to be part of the wedding party and you know where certain couples are sitting, why not have a little fun with the mistletoe? Arrange ahead of time to get the venue staff help hang small bunches of mistletoe from the ceiling, especially right over the bride and grooms seat. While they don’t necessarily have to kiss all night, it will be fun to see how they react when they – and other couple – realize what they are sitting beneath.
Ornaments make great guest gifts
Sometime brides and grooms like to give a small token of their appreciation to the guests and many of them have matches and other tokens made up with the name and wedding date. If your wedding is around Christmas time, why not spend the money on small ornaments that your guests can hang on the tree instead of matchbooks? You can have the ornaments engraved with your information somewhere on the ornament and your guests will have a keepsake with a two fold purpose.
Always have fun and show your guests how much you appreciate them.
