How to make Baby’s First Christmas Memorable

Depending on when your little one was born can make a difference in how the view Christmas time. The earlier in the year they are born, the more fun this strange celebration can be. Babies between one and four months will be more interested in other things ranging between sleeping and simply staring at the lights. If you want to make your baby’s first Christmas memorable, however, here are some tips on chronicling the holiday season for them.
Memories can last with pictures and footprints
Take the time to video tape them and take pictures.
Children as simply a bundle of wonder and when they realize that the lights on the Christmas tree or around the house are fascinating, they will spend hours just watching the twinkle on or off. Or they’ll try to catch as they crawl to the tree. You can capture theses moments by setting up your camcorder for a while and engaging with your little one to help them inspect the lights. You will then be able to share with them their first reactions to the time of year.
Make something for the tree or family with your baby.
If you want to create something unique for your child or members of the family create a decoration that includes a footprint of your child. Older children will simply love stepping into ooey gooey homemade play dough. They can help you make presents or decorations that will last for years to come. Footprints in play dough can have the excess removed, a hole put in the top for a string and baked to harden. Add their name and year on the back and your child will love handing them out on Christmas day.
Create a memory book
Scrap booking is a great way to remember the entire season.
Take all the pictures you want of that first Christmas and place them in a memory or scrapbook with as much information as possible about who is in each picture. If your child is a newborn, make sure you write down who is holding them. Your child may not necessarily remember everything as you sit with them in a few years and review the book, but it is one way of making sure your child always sees just how special his or her first Christmas really was. Additionally, keep a track of all of the gifts they received that year and who gave them to your child. It could provide some very fun laughs later down the road.
