Advent Calendar Gifts

Corporate Gift BasketsAdvent calendars are a fun way to countdown to Christmas. If you cannot find them in the stores, try making one with unique little gifts.

Do you remember the advent calendar’s you used to enjoy as a child every Christmas? They have been around since the 19th Century and they originally started as chalk lines religious families used to make in their homes from December 1 to December 24. In 1851 the first advent calendar was made and many of them were clocks, candles, or wreaths instead of gifts. If you can’t find one of the popular advent calendars that are produced today with their little chocolates behind their cardboard doors, then you could actually make an advent calendar for your family.

Making your own advent calendar does not need to be a lot of work. You can place the little gifts that you purchase for your family in anything, such as a basket or decorative box. Choose enough small gifts to cover a gift from December 1 to December 24 and wrap them in Christmas paper with the dates printed on them. Choose little gifts that your younger children will enjoy and gifts that older children, such as teenagers, will find useful.

For example, if you have a teenage boy, make him an advent calendar that includes things such as fast food gift cards, cheap DVDs, his favorite cologne, socks, snacks, and other things a typical teenager will not only have fun with but will also find useful. For a girl, hair bows, makeup, nail polish, and other fun fashionable items will be greatly appreciated. You can easily spend under $30 by utilizing your local dollar store for the gifts you can include in your children’s advent calendar.

If you are included to making crafts, you can purchase a bag of small Christmas candies and put them in the craft that you make. There are plenty of websites out there that offer you Christmas craft ideas for making an advent calendar from scratch. You can make them from felt with little pockets to hold the candy or from a decorated box with little doors similar to the advent calendars that you can purchase at the store. There is no limit to your imagination when making an advent calendar for your family.

For fun make an advent calendar for your pet. While they may not understand what Christmas is, they sure will enjoy the treats and toys that you offer them once a day during the holiday season. Your pets will enjoy the additional attention from you and you will enjoy the way your pet reacts to the extra little goodies you give them.

One of the best online gift shop is holiday-gifts-gift-baskets.com which has a huge selection of great gifts from 15$ each.
