A Merry Kids’ Christmas

Every year parents struggle to make Christmas extra special for their children. With new toys being created everyday, new gadgets on the market, and an ever increasing wave of kid stars being born, it’s a constant battle to decipher what’s the best for kids at Christmas.

Toys

With the latest action movies, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and GI Joe, there’s a whole fleet of robot warriors and intergalactic soldiers for the earth-saving lads to choose from. Comic book heroes were also big this year. X-Men Origins provided plastic retractable claws galore. For young ladies who’ve always desired to be a princess, there were an abundance of Barbie® characters released in 2009. Also, 2009 saw an upsurge of Littlest Pet Shop collectables for the young girl with a hankering for cute, stuffed pets.

Video Games

In 2009, there were plenty of games up for grabs suitable for kids of all ages: Mario Kart Wii, Mario Power Tennis, Cloudy with a Sing of Meatballs, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were all big name draws this year.

Christmas Goodies

Kids are always looking for something scrumptious to leave for Santa and they love to bake cookies. A Christmas tradition as old as the holiday itself, baking cookies for Santa has always been a fun way for parents and children to connect. Holiday candies are always great for decoration. However, it’s always good for the parent to remember nutrition. Great holiday fruits include plums, pears, and grapes –delicious enough to keep the kids coming back for more; healthy enough to appease the health-conscious Mom.

Christmas Trees

One can never forget to get the perfect Christmas tree. Be aware of size restrictions and the age of the tree. It’s best to get a mid-sized tree about one week before the big day and say goodbye to the evergreen no more than two weeks later. This gives the kids plenty of time to decorate to their hearts’ content and get as much enjoyment out of their tree as possible.

As fun as Christmas is for the children, it’s equally important for the parents to be in the spirit. The holidays are meant for the entire family. They’re a chance to ease the tension from a year full of stressors. The family bond never goes out of style no matter what time of the year.

My daughter was raped and tortured by a serial rapist and has been in and out of the hospital many times in 2 years. She has 2 girls, ages 9 and 11.This has destroyed her and our lives. Her husband has been so good but he is totally blind in one eye and 80% blind in the other. His unemployment ran out last month and they have no money coming in. I am trying to help them keep aplace to live until they get their disability but there isn’t enough money. Christmas won’t happen for my grandchildren unless someone helps me. Please tell me what to do. PLEASE

You’re totally right - As long as you can deal with the constant fake sound-effects that your kids make, you really can’t go wrong with Transformers or Video Games for boys. I just thought of another one too - kids really go nuts when you get them a new pet. Of course, this entails more sound effects…

Toys have become old these days and video games do more harm than good to us parents that is. Goodies is something that everyone gets so my children do not feel special and trees we all do it every year. I am looking for something more personal! A completely unique Christmas gift. Something like this Name on Rice or glares with there name etched on or an ipod with a message on the rear side. I am looking forward for more suggestions.
