One-of-a-Kind Gifts For Christmas
Unique Christmas gifts are easy to choose. All that are needed are creativity and a little knowledge about the receiver.
They say that it is better to give than to receive. This is certainly true when trying to give everyone in your life unique Christmas gifts. Sometimes the most fun is to be had is deciding what to get for that special someone. In general, to make someone’s Christmas gift unique, it is best to think of ideas that wouldn’t occur to other people or that you can make yourself.
I would never have thought of that!
Some people are great at thinking of all the little details that the rest of us overlook in daily life and they find ingenious and novel ways to deal with these details. An example of such an item is a mobile alarm clock that promptly jumps off the nightstand and runs away after sounding its alarm - thus forcing the sleeper to get out of bed to silence the alarm. Golfers will enjoy an portable drink dispenser that sits discreetly in a side pocket of a golf bag and looks like any other golf club – drinks on the green at the press of a…club?
Do-it-yourself presents
A great present that anyone can create on their own is a Christmas stocking. For a traditional edge, go for an actual Christmas stocking. For a more modern feel, any nice bag will do. The idea here is to fill the stocking or bag with different mini-gifts that are individually purchased and wrapped and then combined. This idea is great because then the receiver gets surprise after surprise. Better still, even the packaging the gift came in (the stocking or bag) is itself a gift.
Another fun idea follows the DIY theme for the giver as well as the receiver. Come up with a project for your friend or family member and then research and include the instructions with the materials or ingredients needed. For example, a friend wants to go camping like her family used to do when she was young. A great do-it-yourself idea for this friend would be to give her pre-purchased entrance passes to a nature reserve, reservations for and a map to the booked camping site, a new digital memory card for her camera, and a new scrapbook in which to keep all the memories of the trip.
No matter the type of gift, the best tool to have when thinking about what to get someone for Christmas is a little knowledge about what that person likes or is interested in. With that, it is a piece of cake to make it happen.
