Christmas Games for the Whole Family
As Christmas gets closer and closer, it’s time to find ways to entertain the kids while keeping the parents equally engaged. Here are a few old games with a Christmas twist that are sure to keep the house overflowing with holiday spirit and provide the perfect backdrop for family bonding.
Board Games - Monopoly
The game franchise that has brought families together for nearly 75 years has released more Christmas-themed board games for your enjoyment this year. The Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer edition is sure to tickle children and give parents childhood nostalgia. Monopoly has also released a board based on the cult Christmas film A Christmas Story. There’s also a board based on the popular Christmas story, Twas the Night before Christmas.
It’s the Grinch
Seems our green friend from Dr. Seuss’s widely touted How the Grinch Stole Christmas has his own board game. It’s a memory game in which the players attempt to regain the stolen presents from that “sinful sot”, Mr. Grinch. Under each present is a toy. The player must match a letter from the toy’s name to his space on the board, and then he can collect that present. The one who retrieves the most presents for all the Whos in Whoville wins the game.
Other Games
As with most franchises wishing to cash in on the Christmas spirit, Yahtzee and Jenga have holiday editions of their popular family games. With Christmas colours and holiday themed spaces on the board, the entire crew is sure to have a blast.
Family Games
There are many games that offer alternatives to spending cash to spend time with the family. For instance, try Christmas themed Password. Also, try holiday charades. It’s always fun to watch family members make fools of themselves in an attempt to get their teammates to guess the right word. With most of the rules of these popular games already understood, explanations are left to a minimum.
Outdoor Games
Nothing beats a rousing romp in the snow. The family can spend some time outside building snowmen, sledding, even having a competitive little snow fight. Though going through the pains of applying and removing snow clothes can get tedious, the end result is plenty of happy children ready to snuggle deep in their covers and fall asleep straight away in dreamy anticipation of old Mr. Claus coming down the chimney.
I love monopoly! I think i am the only on who does though, lol. I asked my hubby for it for christmas
