How to Choose a Christmas Gift for a Pet
Every animal is special and, on Christmas, many owners enjoy giving their pets special gifts and treats.
On Christmas, pets need to be shown the love and care any child would receive. A pet is a member of the family and many owners will spend portions of their gift budgets on their family pets. Cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, birds and others love to get those special treats at Christmas, just like the rest of us. Let them be a part of the action. They even enjoy opening up the presents, too. There are many ways of giving them special treats, such as buying those presents that they like or even just making one by hand. Any way chosen to give a gift to a pet – or, for that matter, giving any type of treat at all – will be highly enjoyed by the family friend.
Pet Christmas Gifts: The Basics
All animals love to receive treats that they don’t normally get. They know a special treat when they do get one. In this way, pet owners show that they care for and love their pet. Animals enjoy all kinds of treats and special items. Animals such as dogs and cats always like toys that make high-pitched squeaking sounds, for example. A cheap idea for this is to give them a child’s rubber ducky bath toy – this is hours of entertainment at its best! Those that are confined to cages, like rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, etc., need those special toys that will occupy them. Ideas for these include the classic spinning wheel or a salt block. For dogs that love to bite, fill a stocking with rawhide treats or chew toys shaped into bones.
Cats Love to Get Gifts, Too
When it comes to buying Christmas gifts for cats, they can be very finicky. The easiest one to get, that every cat loves, is a can of tuna. They’ll be too busy eating it to properly thank the giver but the cat will show their appreciation afterward with all of the rubbing and purring the giver will receive. Kitty grass is another great idea. This gift is perfect for the indoor cat. All cats like to chew on grass and plants for the health of their digestive system. So, to save other indoor plants get them kitty grass – they’ll love it. Cat toys are always a definite favorite too. Some like soft toys to chew on, others like squeaky toys and even more cats like those toys that they can bat around the room.
Getting a Christmas Gift for a Dog is Easy
Dogs deserve those special treats as well. Why not show them that they are loved with a special toy at Christmas? Both owners and dogs will get a kick out of their antics to get and play with these special toys or treats. Or, give them the gift of comfort by giving them a dog bed; it is always a very popular item. Buy a bed that is unique and fits the dog’s personality as well as the owner’s preferences. Don’t forget the ever-popular Christmas stocking, though. But whatever Christmas gift for a pet is chosen, they’ll love it – because pets do understand when they are loved.
