You can make a donation to any charity organization in a coworker’s name as a Christmas gift. Many charities advertise such gift donation campaigns during festival seasons. There are lots of organizations working for various causes like preventing global warming, protecting rainforests, caring for stray animals, advancing scientific research, or adopting war-orphaned children. You can make a donation to any such group, choosing a cause that is closes to your colleague’s heart. The gift recipient will later get an intimation from the organization on the donation amount and the details of how the money was spent.
Alcohol
Wine as well as other forms of liquor will make a good Christmas gift. Some companies may have a policy that prevents gifts of alcoholic beverages, but so far as the policy allows and your colleague is someone who enjoys his drink, there is no harm in making a gift of wine or beer or other alcohols. The gift recipient can enjoy it himself or serve it to guests as necessary.

Gift cards are one of the best Christmas gift ideas because the gift recipient gets the freedom to spend it the way he likes and on the day he likes. You can gift your colleague a gift card for a book store or a theater, if he is fond of books or plays.
